Autism Awareness Collection
Greetings All! My name is Tanya. I have an 8 year old Hopi/Lakota daughter named Savannah, she is on the Autism Spectrum. 🌈💙💛💜🧡💚❤️ I think like most of us parents, grandparents and family’s when we finally get a diagnosis of our child being Autistic it’s devastating. I know for me I was like what? What is Autism? Will she ever be able to live a normal life? Will she be able to talk? Luckily for me I ‘needed’ to know what Autism was when she got diagnosed at 3 years old. I swear I didn’t sleep…researching and researching day and night! It was exhausting. All I knew is she needed to get help from Specialist as soon as possible. So that’s when the Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist and Psychologist came into the picture. She is now 8 years old and in the 3rd grade, talking and reading. She still struggles in other areas (emotions) but she is doing it. People ask me if I could give them any advice and what it would be…I tell them “Get them the help and resources ASAP.” They are there! Savannah was diagnosed on our Reservation and started all her therapy’s there. ❤️ My heart and prayers are with you all, keep fighting and advocating. Every child is different and unique. Learn your child’s strengths as well as their weaknesses and get that help for them.
This shirt campaign started about 4 years ago for all our Indigenous children who are on the spectrum. To show them they are not alone. They are brilliant and can achieve anything! Always be you! 💙💚🧡❤️💜💛🌈 #AutismAcceptance #AutismAwareness #April #IfYouCanBeAnything #BeKind #YouAreAmazing
